Damaturu Residents Flee, Travelers Stranded As Soldiers Repel Boko Haram Attack
LAGOS DECEMBER 23RD (NEWSRANGERS)_Pandemonium broke out Sunday Evening in Damaturu at about 6:10 pm the Yobe state capital as gunshots and heavy artillery rented the air.
According to a flawless report from an eye witness said the insurgents are trying to penetrate Damaturu from a nearby village, Babaginda but the heavy firepower of the military with the compliment of aerial attached from the Air Force, the attacked was brought under control.
Residents report heavy artillery shelling, particularly from the northern part of the town around Gashua road.
Many residents ran into the houses for safety while shops and businesses closed hurriedly.
Many travellers were also stranded on the roads leading to the state capital as soldiers temporarily blocked the roads.
There has been no official statement on the current situation.
As at time of filing this report, residents and commuters are seen running for their lives.
