Corruption: Customs Synegises  With ICPC, TCIP To Drive Accountability

LAGOS APRIL 25TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Nigerian custom service (NCS) in its efforts to foster ethical practices and integrity within its command, the Tin Can Island Port command of the Nigerian Custom Service in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices  and other related offences commission ICPC hosted a training lecture on transparency and accountability in public services.

The event which was held in recently at the command headquarters, drew officers from various units as well as representatives from ICPC and Anti Transparency Unit (ACTU) .

Welcoming the participants, Comptroller Frank Onyeka , the custom area controller acknowledged the vital role of ICPC and ACTU in promoting transparency and stated that the Nigerian customs service has established robust mechanism to detect and discipline corrupt officers.

According to him,  “discipline, transparency and accountability are non negotiable values in our practices.”

Mrs. Mary Omonoyan from the ICPC delivered the key note address on the importance of transparency and accountability in public sector.

The lecture was concluded with an interactive session aimed at encouraging officers to share ideas and strategise for strengthening transparency within their department. The initiative reflect the shared commitment of Tin Can island command and ICPC to entrenching accountability and ethical standards in  public service.
