Contrary To Speculations, Buhari Shuns Suspended NPA MD, Hadiza Bala-Usman
LAGOS JANUARY 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Contrary to speculations that the suspended Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Hadiza Bala-Usman met with President Muhammadu Buhari on the recently concluded two-day visit to Kaduna, Pointblanknews.com authoritatively gathered that she was shunned by the President.
It was further gathered that attempts to get President Muhammadu Buhari’s attention immediately he alighted from the Presidential Jet upon arrival were unsuccessful as the President snubbed her greetings and quickly moved to the next person.
Uncomfortable with the treatment, Hadiza immediately left the protocol line, according to a video clip seen by Pointblanknews.com
Sources who saw first-hand what transpired told pointblanknews.com that the suspended MD further made attempts to meet with President Buhari when he visited his Kaduna home but was also prevented after the President retired there from his inspection tour.
Insider sources also said all efforts made by the Kaduna State governor, Nasir Elrufai to have her cleared to see the President was futile as it was rebuffed by protocol.
The President, according to reports even referred to her as an “Ex MD” when he sited her at one of the project commissioning.
Sources confirmed that the President’s grouse against her borders on insubordination, refusal to obey Presidential directives.
Pointblanknews.com reports that Bala-Usman was suspended in May 2021 by the federal government as part of moves to “allow an independent audit of the accounts and remittances of the agency” under her watch.
She was accused of breaches contravening government’s financial regulations regarding under-remittances by the NPA under her watch.
In her place, Mohammed Bello Koko was appointed to head the agency in an acting capacity since then.
Although, the panel set up by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to investigate alleged infractions by the suspended Managing Director of the NPA, is yet to submit its findings, a development suggesting that Bala-Usman may not return to her seat.
