Mother Of Five in Police Net For Setting Daughter Ablaze With Petrol

LAGOS MARCH 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-A housewife and mother of five, Aisha Tijani, has landed in hot soup, as she is currently explaining to operatives of the Ogun State Police Command, who arrested her, the reason for setting her daughter ablaze after dousing her with petrol.

Moroof Ayinde, who was said to have reported the incident at Mowe Police Divisional Headquarters, leading to the arrest of the suspec, had told the operatives that the suspect, who lives in the same house with him, poured petrol on her daughter and set her ablaze out of anger.

The woman was said to have become annoyed because the the victim took a phone she seized from one of her children and gave it back to the child, leading to the action of the mother, who was said to have been arrested by a team led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mowe division, Folashade Tanaruno, and some detectives, who stormed the scene.

Police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement that the 10-year-old was severely burnt and was rushed to hospital from where she was referred to Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital for better medical attention.

The suspect, who claimed to have been separated from the father of the children, told the police that she did not know what came over her when she attacked her daughter.
