Lone Occupant Dies In Ghastly Auto-Crash In Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos
LAGOS AUGUST 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The lone occupant of a car lost his life on Monday, August 23, when he lost control of his car, causing the vehicle to crash into a streetlight pole before it eventually somersaulted on the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos State.
The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. at Ologolo inward Agungi on the ever-busy expressway when the motorist, said to be speeding, suddenly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a streetlight pole before the car eventually somersaulted.
It was gathered that due to the speed, the impact of the incident caused the car to uproot the streetlight pole and later somersaulted, leading to the death of the lone occupant of the car while the vehicle was severely damaged.
Following the incident and a distress call received, officials of the Lekki Concession Company (LCC), the company in charge of monitoring the traffic situation on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, raced to the scene to bring the motorist out of the vehicle before his corpse was taken to the morgue.
The incident caused massive traffic gridlock on the expressway, especially on the lane inwards Victoria Island, just as LCC officials and policemen were on ground ensuring better traffic flow and law and order.
The incident was announced by the Lekki Concession Company on its Facebook wall which added that efforts were being made to ensure the vehicle was removed from the scene of the accident while advising motorists to drive carefully when approaching the scene of the accident.
According to LCC: “An accident has occurred at Ologolo inward Agungi involving a lone occupant of the vehicle who died during the accident. His corpse has been taken to the morgue. The vehicle somersaulted after crashing into a streetlight pole as a result of excessive speeding.
“LCC patrol officers and policemen are at the scene of the accident and recovery of the vehicle is in progress. Motorists are advised to drive with caution at all times.”
