Traders Flee As Fully-Loaded Trailer Rams Into Row Of Shops Inside Lagos Market

LAGOS MAY 10TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Some traders who just arrived at their stalls in the morning of Monday, May 10, fled for their lives when the driver of a fully-loaded trailer lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the row of shops in the process.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. inside a row of stalls at Oye roundabout inward Daleko in the Mushin area of Lagos State when the FOTON trailer with registration number KMC 76 XA and apparently heading towards Daleko market lost control and headed towards the stalls.
It was gathered that some of the traders who were around fled for their lives when they saw that the driver of the trailer had lost control and the vehicle was coming towards their direction.
As a result of the crash, the impact of the incident damaged the windscreen of the trailer while the roofs and other parts of some of the stalls were equally damaged as the incident caused some gridlock on the road before traffic management officials were able to restore normalcy.
Following distress calls made by some of the traders, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) arrived at the scene on time to ensure normalcy was restored to the area.
As of the time of this report, according to LASTMA, efforts are being made to remove the trailer from the scene of the incident while LASEMA officials are also on ground for evaluation of the incident.
The incident was announced by LASTMA, the agency in charge of traffic monitoring in the state, on its Twitter handle @followlastma which added that efforts are on to manage the situation effectively.
According to LASTMA: “A loaded articulated trailer rammed into some market stalls at Oye roundabout inwards Daleko in Mushin, Lagos State.
