Kidnappers Of Punch Journalist Demand N10m Ransom
LAGOS FEBRUARY 5TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Kidnappers of Okechukwu Nnodim, a correspondent with The Punch have demanded the sum of N10m as ransom to secure his release.
The kidnappers, according to sources closed to the family contacted Nnodim’s sister in Lagos on the telephone.
The assailants had stormed his residence around Arab road area, Kubwa, Abuja, where they kidnapped two of his neighbours’ sons.
The wife of the victim, Oluchi Nnodim narrated that the gang had scaled the fence into their house, ordering them to open the door.
Oluchi said the armed men shot sporadically into the air, and at the windows too, causing the burglary proof to be pulled down before forcing their way in through the front door.
“My husband asked me to stay with the children in their room. I heard the men asking him to bring out money but he told them he didn’t have money in the house.
“They took our phones and marched him out of the house. They went to our neighbour’s house and also abducted her two sons,” she said.
His neigbour on her part, confirmed the kidnapped of her sons.
Gbeyide said they had to open their door when the men threatened to kill them if they refused.
“They took the N9,000 in my purse, upturned the television set in the room, and went away with my first son. My second son started following them and they also took him away,” she said.
