Amotekun Intercepts Truckload Of Fulani Herdsmen With Cache Of Arms, Ammunition
LAGOS JANUARY 26TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Eagle-eyed operatives of a South-Western states formed security outfit, Amotekun have intercepted a truckload of persons of Fulani extraction who claimed to be herdsmen.
Sources said the truck marked TUR 30 ZY Kebbi was intercepted by the security of Oyo State Command (Ido Unit) led by Gbenga Olarewaju . When the 25 occupants of the truck were asked to alight for a search, no fewer than 15 locally made guns with bags of cartridges were recovered.
It was further learned that when they were interrogated, the persons claimed to be herders while the arms and ammunition was to protect their cattle.
This interception is coming on the heels of the recent orgy of violence occasioned by the quit notice order given to the Fulani in Igangan land and the Seriki Fulani by intrepid Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, over increasing kidnapping and killings in the South-West.
It was not possible to get the reaction of the Command PRO CSP Femi Olugbenga as of the time of filing this report but sources said the suspects and the truck had been handed over to the police at Ido Division for onward transmission to the Oyo state Command Headquarters.
