Any Malaria-like Symptoms Should Be Considered COVID-19 Until Proven Otherwise – Sanwo-Olu

LAGOS JANUARY 20TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday said any malaria-like symptom should now be considered and treated as COVID-19 until proven otherwise.

The governor, who briefed newsmen at the State House, Ikeja, Lagos State  on COVID-19 update in the state said such symptoms should be considered COVID-19 virus infections unless proven otherwise.

“In this second wave of the current pandemic, any malaria-like symptoms should be considered as COVID-19 virus infection unless and until otherwise proven. Any affected individual with COVID-like symptoms should proceed to any of our public health facilities and/or laboratories to get tested for free”, he said.

On the decision of the State to support reopening of schools amidst rising COVID-19 cases, the Governor said the schools sometimes happen to be a safe haven for the wards instead of being exposed to negative vices in the society.

Speaking of those not observing social distancing on the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT), the governor urged those who are not adhering to the guidelines to desist from the act.

He further urged people to stay at home provided what they want to go out to do can be done virtually. This, he said, will help reduce the spread of the dreaded virus.

Lagos has so far recorded 41,400 COVID-19 cases with 776 recorded in the last 24 hours.
