South African Commits Suicide In Hotel Room Toilet
LAGOS MAY 8TH (NEWSRANGERS)-A South African, Daniel Grant, has been found hanging in his hotel room in Lagos State.
This revelation was made on Monday by the Commissioner, Lagos State Police Command, Edgal Imohimi.
According to Imohimi, the deceased, 50, was found hanging at Emerald Cove Hotel, 18B, Sinari Daranijo Street, Victoria Island on May 6, 2018.
Grant was said to have checked into the hotel with his girlfriend, Gift Mike, on May 5, 2018 before the incident.
Imohimi said after checking into the hotel, Grant and Mike went to Pat Bar in Victoria Island on a drinking spree.
They were said to have returned to Emeral Hotel at about 1:30am.
Imohimi said: “Few hours later, the girlfriend of the deceased woke up and discovered that her lover was not on the bed where they both slept on.
“During the search of the hotel room, she found the deceased in the toilet hanged in a vertical position and raised the alarm, which attracted the attention of the deceased friend, one Puyush Srivatsatav, who is an Indian national, and some staff of the hotel.
“The investigation team, led by a deputy Commissioner of Police at SCID, and Forensic Expert from the Ministry of Justice, visited the scene of crime and took samples for scientific analysis.
“The deceased’s corpse was later removed and deposited at General Hospital, Lagos Island for preservation and autopsy, while investigation is ongoing on the matter.”
Imohimi said the manager of the hotel, Abu Ismail, reported the case to Moroko Police Division.
It has, however, been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba for further investigation.
