LAGOS NOVEMBER 2ND (NEWSRANGERS)-Nigerian political analyst Sam Amadi has raised concerns over the safety of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), warning against any plot to harm him ahead of the 2027 general election.
Amadi made the statement in a post on his official X account, where he called on those allegedly planning evil against Obi to desist and urged security agencies to strengthen protection around him.
In the post, Amadi wrote that there was “growing concern” about Obi’s safety and warned those he described as plotting evil to desist, adding that it was better to lose an election than destroy the country.
He also called on security agencies to beef up security around Obi, describing his protection as a national responsibility because he is a leading presidential candidate in the 2027 election.
Amadi’s warning comes amid concerns over the security of Obi as political activities ahead of the 2027 general election gather momentum.
Obi has also publicly expressed concerns about his safety, alleging harassment and obstruction, and questioning whether he would be able to remain safe enough to contest the election.
The concerns have followed reports of attacks involving political convoys in Benue State and a suspected assassination attempt in Edo State, adding to tensions surrounding the forthcoming election.
Amadi’s intervention has drawn attention to the responsibility of security agencies to protect political candidates and ensure that threats or acts of violence do not undermine the electoral process.
He maintained that no political ambition should be allowed to put the country at risk, urging those allegedly planning harm against Obi to abandon any such action.
