LAGOS AUGUST 6TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Nigeria’s Super Falcons have qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after thrashing Egypt 6-2 in their final Group C fixture.
The defending champions entered match day three knowing only a win would do, and they delivered in emphatic fashion, scoring six times to book their place in the knockout rounds.
As noted by NFF, the goals were spread across the squad: Asisat Oshoala, Gift Monday, Uchenna Kanu, Christy Ucheibe, Rasheedat Ajibade and Joy Omewa all found the net for Nigeria. Egypt’s Nadine Ghazi provided some consolation, scoring both goals for the Cleopatras.
With all three teams tied on six points each, CAF’s WAFCON 2026 rules applied head-to-head goal results and goal difference among all three countries.
Under that rule, Zambia were eliminated, ending their campaign despite a strong finish to the group stage.
Malawi, who were competing in their debut Women’s AFCON campaign, advanced as group winners.
As noted by CAF, Nigeria moved into the quarter-finals as one of the sides from Group C to advance, with the Scorchers joining them in the last eight.

Legit.ng previously reported that Nigeria will face Cameroon in the quarter-final of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after beating Egypt 6-2.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria finished second in Group C and as such will face Group D winner, with the Indomitable Lionesses confirmed before the final game.
