Enugu Aircraft: Peter Obi Commends Pilot, Crew For What Could Have Been A Major Disaster

LAGOS JULY 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate has taken to his official X handle to commend the efforts of the pilot and crew members of the Enugu aircraft that experienced difficulties while landing at the Benin airport in Edo State.

According to a post shared on his official X account on Friday July 24th, 2026 he pointed out that the doggedness of the pilot and the crew members averted what could have been a major tragedy.

His comments echoed the public statements recently released by the minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo who also allayed fears generated as a result of the tragic incident.

The incident, according to Festus Keyamo was a mere runway excursion in aviation terminology. However, he maintained that no lives was lost and all passengers and crew members alighted without harm.

The former Anambra State governor, while expressing his relief over the incident, pointed out that the bravery of the pilot whose identities were withheld and his crew members averted what could have turned out to be a national mourning.

He further made it known that all sixty eight (68) passengers aboard the Enugu aircraft disembarked safely with no injuries and causalities recorded.
