LAGOS FEBRUARY 11TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Governor Otti’s proposed law on health coverage and stipends for Abia senior citizens is a welcome and progressive initiative that places him far above many past governors of the state who now attempt to run him down.
If fully implemented, it will stand as one of the most humane and forward-thinking policies in Abia’s governance history.

The mere fact that such a law has been conceived and given legal backing is commendable. It shows a leadership mindset that looks beyond political survival to the welfare and dignity of the elderly. For too long, many leaders in Abia thought only about their own retirement, comfort, and entitlements after leaving office, while neglecting the retirement and wellbeing of the ordinary citizens who laboured to build the state.
Governor Otti’s approach signals a shift from self-serving governance to people-centred leadership. I sincerely hope this law moves beyond paper and becomes a fully operational reality. When leaders begin to think about the elderly, the vulnerable, and the forgotten, governance regains its moral purpose.
