Nnamdi Kanu Distances Self From #EndSARS During Trial
LAGOS MAY 9TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), denied any involvement in the violence and destruction during the October 2020 #EndSARS protests in Lagos State.
Speaking via a video played during his ongoing terrorism trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, May 8, Kanu distanced himself from the incidents.
The prosecution, led by Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), presented a CD of Kanu’s July 17, 2021, interrogation by the Department of State Services (DSS), where operatives questioned him about a Radio Biafra broadcast on October 20, 2020, allegedly inciting violence.
Kanu responded: “I swear in the name of God that created heaven and earth, I have no hand and I know absolutely nothing in whatever form about the riot and destruction that happened in Lagos during #EndSARS. If I have authority over people, I won’t be calling for a referendum. I would have just woken up one day and say let’s create Biafra.”
A DSS agent, the second prosecution witness, testified behind a screen. Justice James Omotosho adjourned the trial to May 14, 21, and 22, for further hearings.
