Chaos As Gunmen Storm UNIBEN Teaching Hospital, Kill Health Worker
LAGOS APRIL 30TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Gunmen stormed the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) in Edo State on Friday, killing a physiotherapist identified as Alex in what sources have described as a cult-related attack.
The incident occurred while the health worker was on duty at the hospital’s physiotherapy department, causing chaos as patients and staff fled for safety, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
“The attack threw patients and staff into panic as they scampered for safety,” a source told NAN.
Following the killing, UBTH health workers staged a protest within the hospital premises, carrying placards and decrying the growing wave of insecurity now affecting medical institutions.
The Public Relations Officer of UBTH, Joshua Uwaila, confirmed the killing and said the hospital had informed the appropriate authorities.
“A physiotherapist with UBTH was shot dead on Friday. The matter has been reported to the security agencies,” he said.
