Police Confirm Death Of Work By Machine Roller At Dangote Cement
LAGOS DECEMBER 16TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Ogun State Police Command has reported the death of Dare Adeleke, a casual worker at Maigida Company, a subsidiary of Dangote Cement Industry, Ibese, Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State in an industrial accident.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Omolola Odutola, disclosed this information in an exclusive statement to our correspondent on Sunday.
While cleaning up limestone materials, Adeleke’s shovel reportedly came into contact with the roller belt, which then pulled both the shovel and Adeleke into the crusher, causing severe injuries, our correspondent learnt.
Odutola stated that the victim was promptly extracted from the machine and rushed to a nearby hospital, where the attending doctor confirmed his death.
She said, “The incident was reported at the Ibese police post by a security guard, Mohammed Muktar. The deceased, a casual worker at Maigida Company under Dangote Cement Factory, was identified as Dare Adeleke.
“The deceased and his colleagues were using shovels to clean limestone beneath a rolling conveyor belt at the factory when Adeleke’s shovel accidentally came into contact with the roller, leading to the fatal accident.
“He was pronounced dead by the doctor at Jajo Clinic, the factory’s onsite hospital, where he was rushed immediately after the incident”
His body has been transferred to the mortuary at the Ilaro State Hospital for an autopsy. Efforts are underway to locate his family.”
PUNCH Metro previously reported a similar incident at the cement factory on October 28, 2024, when a staff member, Taoreed Okanlawon, tragically lost his life after being run over by one of the company’s buses.
