Osimhen Bounces Back From Injury, Trains Separately At Galatasaray

LAGOS OCTOBER 13TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Victor Osimhen has returned to training at Galatasaray following a short spell on the sidelines due to an injury.

Galatasaray shared the interesting news on Saturday in a statement on their Instagram account, which read, “Victor Osimhen has worked separately from the team within the special programme prepared for him.”

The 25-year-old striker suffered an injury during Galatasaray’s Super Lig encounter with Kasımpaşa on September 28, scoring a brace during the Turkish Super Lig 3-3 draw. He was forced off at halftime due to discomfort, signalling to the technical bench for a substitution, and was replaced by former Napoli teammate Dries Mertens at the break.

Days later, Galatasaray provided an update on his fitness, delivering a significant blow to the Super Eagles ahead of their AFCON qualifying tie against Libya, which they won 1-0 at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday.

After the game, Osimhen tried to ease concerns about his condition, telling fans that he was “fine” and only felt some discomfort in his leg.

The following Tuesday, Galatasaray released a statement with further details about the injury.

“The treatment of our football player Victor Osimhen, who felt pain in his upper left posterior muscle during the Kasımpaşa match, has been started,” read the club’s statement.

The diagnosis revealed a strain and minor bleeding in his left posterior muscle group.

Osimhen missed Galatasaray’s UEFA Europa League clash with Rigas FC on October 3 and their Super Lig fixture against Alanyaspor on October 6.

He was also a sore miss for Nigeria, as the three-time African champions struggled for goals against Libya
