AFCON 2025 Qualifier: Rohr Gives Reasons Why Benin Lost To Super Eagles

LAGOS SEPTEMBER 10TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The head coach of Benin Republic, Gernot Rohr, has reflected on their 3-0 defeat to Nigeria in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.

The Cheetahs had edged the Super Eagles 2-1 in a 2026 World Cup qualifier in June this year.

But on Sunday, the three-time African champions proved to be too strong for them.

Ademola Lookman scored in either half, while Victor Osimhen also got a goal at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Speaking about the game, Rohr said: “We managed to beat them in Abidjan.

“It gave them extra motivation to seek revenge, which is normal.

“And at home, in addition, with the stars present today w ho weren’t there last time, captain Ekong, Aina and Osimhen made a difference.”
