Gunshot, Teargas, Bonfire As Security Diffuses Protesters In Kano

LAGOS AUGUST 1ST (NEWSRANGERS)-Angry youths marching against hunger and bad governance in the country have been dispersed by security operatives in Kano State.

The Guardian reports the protesters had occupied a major road as early as at 8:00am and marched from Zoo Road down to state road and stationed at the Government house where they demanded to see Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Trouble however ensued when the angry youth set some types on fire after being denied access by heavily armed security operatives.

Provoked by the audacity of the protesters, an eyewitness told our correspondent that security operatives immediately discharged teargas and shot into the air to disperse the youth.

One of the protesters, who identified himself as Abu Aminu, accused the security of dispersing their peaceful protest with teargas.

Efforts to speak with police spokesman SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on the development was not successful.

Earlier, the police threatened to frustrate any attempt by hoodlums to hijack the protest in the state.
