Two Globally Renowned Artists Hannah Rose Thomas, Uğur Gallenkuş To Exhibit Art At IRF Summit 2024
LAGOS JANUARY 27TH (NEWSRANGERS) — The International Religious Freedom (IRF) Summit — the world’s premier annual gathering of religious freedom advocates and activists — will feature an on-site exhibit of artwork from two globally-renowned artists, Hannah Rose Thomas and Uğur Gallenkuş.
Acclaimed British artist Hannah Rose Thomas, who uses techniques of traditional sacred art to reveal the trauma and resilience of women survivors of war and displacement, will have a selection of works from her series “Tears of Gold.”
Thomas will also participate in a conversation on the IRF Summit plenary stage Tuesday afternoon about IRF in the context of modern culture. The Summit will host a book signing with Hannah immediately following in which pre-release copies of her forthcoming book, “Tears of Gold: Portraits of Yazidi, Rohingya, and Nigerian Women,” will be available for purchase.
IRF Summit 2024 is also pleased to welcome visual artist Uğur Gallenkuş for his first-ever exhibit in the United States. Gallenkuş is known throughout the world for his remarkable collages, which uncover the widening divide between privilege and oppression, weaving together juxtaposed images of misery and mirth, wealth and poverty, and love and despair.
The IRF Summit will be held January 30-31 at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.
The Summit is supported by dozens of diverse partners, including the Religious Freedom Institute, Lantos Foundation, International Campaign for Tibet, Multifaith Neighbors Network, Aspen Institute Religion and Society Program, ADF International, Meta, and the International Republican Institute, among others. The IRF Summit aims to bring greater attention to religious freedom violations and to create a powerful coalition of groups to advance the cause of religious freedom around the world.
