Two Brothers Remanded For Allegedly Selling Their Sister’s Landed Property For N25m
LAGOS APRIL 16TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Two brothers, Obahor Paul, 40 and his younger brother, Obahor Isaiah, have landed in trouble in Lagos State after they conspired and sold their sister’s landed property for N25m with forged power of attorney and shared the money.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the duo has been arrested for conspiracy and criminal conversion.
The incident happened at Soji Adepegbe Close, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja area of Lagos but the landed property in question is located at Abegede area in Eti-osa Local Government area of Lagos State.
According to the Police, the two brothers procured a fake power of attorney and claimed that they had instruction from their sister, Uzezi Obahor, to sell the land, which they sold for the said amount since 2015 and kept it away from their sister for those years.
However, trouble started when the sister, Uzezi, went to the land to develop it and discovered that another person had taken possession of the land.
She asked to know what happened, she was told by the buyer that he bought the land from her brothers and they presented the power of attorney, which she gave them to sell the property.
The matter was reported to the Police. They were then arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over their conduct and they reportedly confessed to the crime.
They were subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
They pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O Osunsanmi, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
They were remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned for mention.
