13-Year-Old Swept Away By Flood In Abuja Found Dead
LAGOS OCTOBER 25TH (NEWSRANGER)-The body of a 13-year-old boy, Tosin Otun, who was swept away by flood on SCC Road in the Buhari area, Abuja, has been found.
According to his sister, Toyosi, the victim was sent to get a goat tied beside a drainage channel close to their house when the incident happened on October 14.
She said Tosin might have slipped in the process of untying the goat while it rained heavily in their community.
Shortly after the incident, Toyosi took to Twitter to announce that he was missing.
She wrote, “Pls, help find my brother. His name is Tosin Faisal Otun, a 13-year-old. He was swept away by water on Friday around 4pm, 14th October, 2022. Pls, retweet till we find him.”
Speaking to our correspondent on Monday, she said, “He was sent on an errand to bring our goat into our compound. I think he tied the goat close to the drainage. So, he went back to get the animal when rain started. I think he slipped.”
The deceased’s father, Adewale, said the corpse was found four days after the incident.
He said when the boy went missing, the family hired the services of divers to search for him.
He said, “The reason why the information was tweeted then was that when the flood swept him away, we could not find his corpse. Eventually, four days after, we were able to find his corpse and he has been buried. The incident happened around 4pm.”
