Speaker Dogara Has finalise Plans To Dump APC For PDP

Yakubu Dogara

LAGOS SEPTEMBER 10TH (NEWSRANGERS)-In what is set to go down as a continuation of the gale of defections that has plagued the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara is set to dump the party for the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defection is set to be announced in the next 24 – 48 hours.
Dogara will be following in the footsteps of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki who dumped the APC on July 31st, 2018 in a tweet posted via his verified Twitter handle.
Saraki had subsequently announced his decision to run for President in the 2019 elections on the platform of the PDP during a dialogue with Youth and Young aspirants under the auspices of the “Not Too Young To Run” held at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja on Thursday August 30th, 2018.
Feelers from Dogara’s camp indicate that the speaker is disgruntled after being allegedly sidelined from the affairs of the party in his home state, Bauchi due to a disagreement with Governor Mohammed Abubakar. Furthermore, there has been increased pressure on the speaker to dump the APC following the widely publicized rift in the party. Reports also indicate that he has been conspicuously absent at recent ward, local government and state meetings of the party.
Dogara’s defection will come as another blow to the APC, with the party having to deal with a series of high-profile exits ahead of a difficult election year – one which many analysts predict would see the APC face a tough battle to retain its status as the nation’s ruling party.
