LAGOS MARCH 23RD (NEWSRANGERS)-A retired boxing coach, Scott Eguabor, has punched his brother-in-law, Sunday Okoro, to death in Benin, the Edo State capital.

The incident happened when the ex-boxer was attempting to resolve a marital problem between his younger sister, a judoka, and her husband.

Eguabor is in charge of boxing in the state sports council, and also heads the state security network at Erie and its environs. He has fled his home.

It was learned yesterday that the incident happened barely one month after the victim’s wife was delivered of a baby boy.

A neighbour, who witnessed the incident, said the deceased wept profusely after the attack, before he went to complain at Esigie Divisional Police Headquarters, where he was advised to treat himself.

The source said the victim ignored the advice, and went to his in-laws to report the matter, but he collapsed and died.

It was learnt that the ex-pugilist punched Okoro in the nose and mouth, sending him to the floor.
