According to France’s Military Applications Division, the tremors began at 7.15am on Sunday, February 12.

It measured 3.7 on the Richter scale and is recorded as having a shallow depth of 10km.

Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly on land than deep ones.

The quake was 38 miles from Sea Palling, 42 miles from Cromer, 45 miles from Great Yarmouth and 56 miles from Norwich.

Those living in Sea Palling, Happisburgh and Mundlesley may have also felt it.

One local said their house shook from the quake – while another claimed it had “sounded like a bomb”.

A third added it was “like a piece of large furniture had fallen over”.

It comes after the British Geographical Survey measured a 2.6 magnitude tremor last week.

Sensors picked up the tremor near Bicknacre, with residents in nearby Chelmsford wondering if a “bomb” had gone off.

One local described the earthquake as “like an underground train going under a bungalow.”

And at the start of the month, a tremor measuring 1.5 magnitude was recorded in Blackpool.

The quake took place at around 7.30pm on February 3, with shocked residents reporting their cabinets had been shaken by the movement.

At that time, there had been 39 earthquakes recorded around the British Isles in the last 60 days, according to the BGS.
