Obi Storms Osun, Reacts To Tinubu’s ‘Labour To Death’ Tantrum
LAGOS JULY 14TH (NEWSRANGERS)-“We want to stop monkey de work baboon de chop. Let monkey chop. We don’t want anybody to die. We want them to live. We want the baboon to live, but we want them to join monkey in working.”
These were the exact words with which Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, reacted to the tantrums thrown at him on Tuesday by his opponent in the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu.
Obi, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, at a mega rally on Wednesday to support the governorship candidate of the party, Lasun Yusuff, also told the APC National Leader and former Governor of Lagos State that it was time for people like him to leave the political stage, urging his audience to retire his likes from the scene.
Admonishing the mammoth crowd of party supporters, he said: “You’re the ones that are suffering. All those things they’re showing you, all those pittance they’re giving you, it’s your money they’re giving to you, is your money they’ve stolen. It’s your future they’ve stolen.
“We want to recover your future. You’ve no jobs, you’ve no food, your children are not in school, their children are schooling overseas, this is the time for you to recover Nigeria. This is the time for you to take back Nigeria. They’re owing salaries, they’re owing pensions, the other people who are working hard have not been paid.
Reacting directly to Tinubu, Obi added: “I listened to our chairman when he said that somebody said ‘they can labour till death.’ When they show you, or when they talk like that…when they show you hatred, Labour Party will show them love. There is dignity in labour. Labour Party says they want to move Nigeria from consumption to production. You cannot do production without labour. There’s dignity in labour and those who have laboured will get their reward. That’s what we want to do in Nigeria.
“We want the baboon to join monkey in working so that the two of them can live and chop. So, when they talk about dying, pray for them to live. We want Nigerians to show love. We want Nigerians to show care. Let nobody tell you he’s from this place, he’s from this place. Vote for competence. Vote for people who have worked.
“You know in Osun State today, how much they’re owing. Go and check the problems that are happening in Osun State. Everything that is happening here is because you voted for the wrong party. Vote for Labour Party for the future of your children.
“If you collect money, in the next four years it will be worse. But like the Chairman said, collect the money and keep it and vote your conscience, it’s your money they’ve stolen. But vote for a candidate that will protect your interest. Vote for Labour, so that your children will have jobs. Vote for people who would work for you.
“We want to change Nigeria and the only way to change Nigeria is to remove all these people, who have kept Nigeria where it is for the past 23 years. It’s time for them to go. For 23 years, no light, no water, no school, no nothing. They must go!
Tinubu, had a at a similar rally to back the re-election bid of the incumbent APC candidate, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Tuesday, said: “They said some are in Labour, they will remain labourers till death.”
