NDDC Interim Committee Uncovers Abandoned $34m Power Equipment

LAGOS DECEMBER 22ND (NEWSRANGERS)-The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) said it uncovered abandoned power station components worth $34 million.

The NDDC’s acting executive director of projects, Cairo Ojougboh, made this known in  a statement released on Thursday, December 19, Channels TV reports.

Ojougboh said the power station components were abandoned at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in Rivers State since 2017.

He said he and another member of the committee met the abandoned equipment at the port which was meant for NDDC sub-stations at Ekparagwa and Ikot Epkene in Akwa Ibom state.

A statement by Femi Adesina, the president’s spokesperson, said the recomposition of the new board would take place after the ongoing forensic audit of the commission which is entangled in alleged corruption web.

This development came about two months after the Senate screened the list of a board sent to the lawmakers by President Buhari.
