An octogenarian whose house was amongst the ones demolished  told NewsRangers ,  his area  were not part of the portion that was earmarked for demolition  hence  they were were given any prior notice of the demolition exercise.

Lamenting his plight to NewsRangers, he said, “I woke up Friday morning only to be informed that their houses were meant for demolition.  In bewilderment, I and some other victims went to meet Prince RabiuOluwa, the Badagry Division Apex leader of the Ruling All Progressive Alliance (APC) in the State but nothing was done about it.”

News making the round had it that a densely populated area of the Local Government popularly called Egun Village or Addidas Field had been marked for the development of Housing Estate by the previous Babatunde Fashola administration, a project that was never executed.

However, administration of the past Governor of Akinwunmi Ambode proposed to go ahead with the project. As a law abiding Government, the portion of land was fenced off to prevent encroachment by developers.

On assumption of office the Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sowolu signified his interest to construct the Housing Estate. The personnel sent by the Local Governent to clear the said Addidas field rather than carry out the duty assigned to them, they demolished houses that were not within the Addidas field. The people affected by this action were not formally notified of the impending demolition exercise.

Those affected are appealing to the State Governor Babajide Somwo-Olu to please come to their aid as they have no alternative accommodation.
