Bayelsa: Management Of Nigeria Police School Laments Infrastructure Decay

LAGOS JULY 31ST (NEWSRANGERS)-The management of the Nigeria police School in Bayelsa state has expressed lamentation over the infrastructures decay which is adversely affecting the school conducive learning environment and called on the authorities concerned to come to their aids.
The Head Teacher , Nwosu Peter Chigozie stated this in his address on the 7th Graduation / Prize Giving Day Ceremony and passing out parade of the police children school, Ovom, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state penultimate weekend.
According to him, the school is faced with both physical and environmental challenges , thus depriving it a befitting structure while also decrying the obscure location and water logging whenever it rains hence they cannot conduct morning devotion and learners cannot also play during their break time.
” This you will agree with me is not conducive for effective teaching and learning. Be that as it may therefore, the school is however soliciting for assistance in the following needs. A school bus to assist our learners that are coming from far distance, trips of sand for sand filling the water logged environment, interlocking of the school compound , twenty five drums of paint for the renovation of the school building, tilling of broken class rooms floors and re – ceiling boards with polyvinyl chloride ( PVC ). It is in the light of these aforementioned needs that we call on all and sundry to come to our aids to bail us out of these obvious predicaments, ” he said .
He disclosed that despite all these challenges, the school’s learners had performed excellently well in the zonal Continuous Assessment Test for all the police children schools organized by police Zonal Assurance Office in Port Harcourt during the session and also during the just released police secondary school common entrance out of the twenty seven candidates that sat for the entrance examination eighteen of them were successful.
“It has become our tradition that all learners graduating from this school must gain admission into secondary schools . I am optimistic that these ones cases will not be an exception, having groomed them to satisfaction. The cause of this achievement is not farfetched, but linked to the staff dedication to duties ” he explained .
He also appreciated the Deputy Commissioner of police operations, Andy Amiengheme , the Hon Mitema Obordor and the Parent Teachers Association for their untiring supports .
Earlier in their speeches, the AC Ops , Samuel Etaifo Erale who represented the commissioner of police and Mrs Metima Obordor who represented her husband applauded the management and staff of the school for the excellent performance of the pupils in academics and cultural displays which is a manifestation of the dedication and discipline impacted on the school children , urging them not to relent as education remains the best legacies parents can bequeath to their children as houses and fashion will fade and become obsolete and moribund over time .They both reiterated their support towards the growth and uplifting of the school.
Also speaking the Head Boy, Vincent Joseph in his valedictory speech , the school had contributed morally and educationally to them and what they got is not difference from their contemporaries. We shall ever be grateful to our teachers for their diligence, academic guidance and spiritual contributions ” he said .
The ceremony was spiced with passing out parade, cultural display, choreography display , news casting by the learners , fashion parade and presentation of prizes and awards to deserving and distinguished pupils .
In his vote of thanks the Chairman of Parents Teachers Association, Rev. N. F . Igana did not only thanked the management for their efforts, but reiterated the call for supports to enable the school meets its militating challenges.
