Ambode, Lagos Monarch Expected At Ilaje Day Celebration In Lagos

LAGOS NOVEMBER 5TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Lagos state governor , Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and Oba of Lagos, HRM Rilwan Akiolu are expected to attend the maiden edition of Ilaje Day celebration holding in Lagos .
Other personalities expected at the occasion are HRM Oba F.E.O. Akinruntan, the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom in Ondo State and Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye among others.

A statement made vailable to NewsRangers by organizer s of the event set All is now set for the hosting of the maiden edition of Ilaje Day, an event being put together by Egbe Omo Ilaje (Lagos State Council), to showcase the unity, strength and cultural richness of people of Ilaje extraction has begun.
And the mood for the cultural showpiece can be felt among the different Ilaje settlements in the state and beyond.
The event, which kicked off with a press conference on Wednesday October 31, will also witness a series of activities including awareness procession in Ilaje communities in the state on Monday November 5 while on Wednesday November 7 there will a galaxy of musical displays by Ilaje artistes.
Also a culturally-spiced Boat Regatta Competition/Display is scheduled for Friday 9 at Majidun in Ikorodun.
The grand finale will take place on Saturday November 10 at NIS Gymnasium Hall, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The event, according to the organizers, will attract eminent personalities from near and far and will serve as an avenue to project and promote the amazing cultures and traditions of the Ilaje to the
world.
It will also serve as a platform to annually bring the Ilaje in Lagos together to strengthen their unity and brotherliness as well as protecting their cultural heritage.
Ilaje is one of the most dominant ethnic tribes in Lagos state with communities in all parts of the state.
They are very hard working people and live mostly very close to river-rine areas.
Despite the numeric strength of the people, they are however most times not factored into the political equation of Lagos state.
Perhaps, the cultural fiesta could achieve beyond uniting them and showcasing their strength but also launch them into political reckoning since the general elections are around the corner.
