Aljazeera Investigation Reveals Why Diezani Cannot Be Arrested

LAGOS NOVEMBER 28TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s former minister of petroleum resources, has reportedly secured a Dominican diplomatic passport which could protect her from being arrested over corrupt allegations levelled against her.

According to Aljazeera investigations, Diezani was personally handed a Dominican diplomatic passport by the prime minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit in London which could shield her from criminal charges.

The report claims that Diezani was made a diplomat for Dominica in 2015.

The former oil minister is facing allegations of looting billions of dollars of oil revenue for herself and corrupt associates.

The Dominican prime minister reportedly gave Madueke the diplomatic passport in exchange for a secret deal which is linked to the sale of an apartment in New York where Skerrit’s family stayed in New York, United States.

The New York building was reportedly bought by a Shell company for $2.2 million with no mortgage.

While property records reported showed that Skerrit’s wife resided in the apartment, the prime minister and Diezani reportedly denied any link to the company that bought the apartment.

Skerrit said his wife resided in the apartment due to the kind gesture of an unnamed friend and strongly denied any wrongdoing, adding that he did not collect any money from Diezani.

Meanwhile, a report which claimed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dropped charges against Diezani has been denied by the agency.

The spokesperson of the anti-graft agency, Wilson Uwujaren, said in an interview on Wednesday, November 27, that the story was not false and meant to mislead the public.

Uwujaren asked Nigerians to disregard the story which he described as fake.

“It is fake news, just disregard it,” he said.
