WCQ: Ojugbana Blasts Super Eagles Players For Bringing Girlfriends To Camp

LAGOS JUNE 20TH (NEWSRANGERS)-In an interview with Arise News, Charles Ojugbana, a former board member of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), has lambasted players who bring their girlfriends to the Super Eagles camp, stating that it shows a lack of focus even before training begins.

Ojugbana emphasized that football is a team sport that requires discipline and leadership. He stressed that a good coach is not only a tactical director but also a manager of men and resources. He added that a effective coach does not publicly quarrel with his players, but rather manages them effectively.

Ojugbana’s comments come as the Super Eagles face criticism for their poor performance and discipline issues. His remarks highlight the need for players to maintain a professional focus and for coaches to lead by example.

“For a player coming to Super Eagles camp in Uyo, dragging his girlfriend around along with him means that he has already lost focus even before he started training. also part of what makes football a team sport is that a Coach is not just somebody who directs how the team plays. You’re also a leader, you’re a manager of men and resources. A good manager does not quarrel with his tools and a good coach does not quarrel with his players at least in the open”
