Tincan Customs Boss Promises To Fulfill N1.103trn Revenue Target For 2024
LAGOS JANUARY 17TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Customs Area Controller (CAC) Tin Can Island Port, Comptroller Dera Nnadi has promised to generate a whooping One Trillion, One Hundred and Thirty billion, seven hundred and sixty eight million, fifty one thousand, eight hundred and eighty one naira (N1,130, 768,051,881.29) allocated to the Command in the year 2024.
Nnadi stated that the command which collected over N716 bn revenue in 2023 out of the over N801 billion target allocated to it last year, was given a higher task for its performance in the previous year.
He explained that to meet up with the target, the command is to generate over ninety four billion naira every week at the command as revenue to the coffers of the federal government..
Exuding confidence, Comptroller Nnadi said that the target was achievable even as he stated that the command has tagged the year 2024 the year of stakeholders.
“In all, the command is expected to generate a total of One Trillion, One Hundred and Thirty billion, seven hundred and sixty eight million, fifty one thousand, eight hundred and eighty one naira (N1, 130, 768, 051, 881. 29),” he stated.
Breaking it down, Nnadi stated that the command was expected to generate Ninety four billion, two hundred and thirty million, six hundred and seventy thousand, nine hundred and ninety Naira, eleven kobo every month.
He added further that the command is expected to generate Twenty One billion, six hundred and sixty six million, two hundred and twenty seven thousand, two hundred and sixteen naira, twelve kobo weekly.
While analysing the Command performance of the previous year, he maintained that the command deployed capacity building for officers and stakeholders as one of the tools to achieve its mandate, stressing that deployment of ICT helped the command to optimize its efficiency last year even as he maintained that more of the system would be applied for better efficient in the new year.
He quipped that 24 hours and weekend port operations were applied in the previous year.
Speaking further, Comptroller Nnadi applauded the officers of the command as well as stakeholders for their cooperation in generating the huge sum in 2023.
“We have decided that 2024 is going to be a year of stakeholders in Tincan Island in 2024.But we will not hesitate to deal decisively with those who are not willing to change,” he threatened.
He called on Nigerians to encourage export of goods which according to him, the survival of the economy of the nation rests on.
He disclosed further that aside revenue collection, the command is poised to prioritize stakeholders engagement and regular sensitization exercise to promote trade facilitation.
