IGBO TRADITIONAL RULERS

LAGOS MARCH 21ST (NEWSRANGERS)-The Igbos living in a riverine area of Lagos were allegedly instructed not to vote in the elections for Lagos State, and the source who gave them this instruction claimed to have gotten the order from above, according to Vanguard Newspaper.

Igbo traditional ruler Eze Chinedu Mozie was denied voting rights on election day in the Ibasa community of Lagos, according to Eze Lawrence Eze, the chairman of the Supreme Council of Ndi Eze Ndi Igbo in Lagos State. Eze Lawrence Eze claimed that when Eze Mozie, the head of the Igbo community, went out to fulfill his civic duty on Saturday in Lagos, the Oba of Ibasa Community approached him and informed him that the Igbo were no longer allowed to participate in any electoral process in Lagos State, adding that they got such order from above.

According to the source, Eze Mozie informed the Oba that since he pays his taxes, he is entitled to vote under the constitution. According to the source, the explanation was ignored as the Oba of Ibasa gave the go-ahead for the youngsters of the neighborhood to attack Mozie and other Igbo voters.

In an effort to defend himself, Mozie fled inside the Oba’s palace, who promptly called the police to take him into custody.

Eze Mozie has not yet been free, according to the source.
