Ogun Catholic Cleric Urges Parish Correspondents To Focus On Christ Reporting

 LAGOS MAY 5TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta in Ogun state, Rev Dr Peter Odetoyinbo, over the weekend called on parish correspondents drawn from all the parishes of the Catholic Church in the state to be christo focus or christo centered in reporting activities of the church in the state.

In his welcome address at a one day media seminar packaged by the Directorate of Social Communication  of Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta the Bishop stressed repeatedly that when Jesus the Christ, founder of the Christian religion was about to ascend into heaven, he called his disciples and admonished them to go into the remotest parts of the world to preach the gospel and spreading the good news of God.

Speaking on Enhancing the Vision of Media Evangelism in the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, Rev Odetoyinbo disclosed that propaganda, spreading the good news, using the Catholic template and a Christlike manner should be the focus of parish reporters.

His words, “ CDA Rock Newspaper, the official newspaper of     the Catholic church for the diocese is where the reporters are expected to send in their news reports for publication in the hard copy of the paper, every month, while the  its website could be updated regularly with news reports on the activities and programs of various Catholic parishes in the state.”

Also Rev Fr Gregory Fadeless, Director of Social Communication for the Diocese in his remarks assured the parish reporters who attended the training that a WhatsApp line was in place and a platform created for them to send in their reports weekly in accordance with the Catholic editorial guidelines being strictly implemented by CDRock newspaper management team, under the  leadership of the Bishop as Publisher.

The training  attended by over 500 parish correspondents was held at SS Peter and Paul Cathedral Hall in Itesi, Adatan Road in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
