Maritime Journalists Association Of Nigeria Elects New EXCO, Dumps Raymond Ugochukwu

LAGOS NOVEMBER 29TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Maritime Association Of Nigeria (MAJAN ) has elected new executive to run the affairs of the association for the next two years.

The Election of new executive ends the dictatorial  executive led by Rayond Uguchukwu. In a statement made available to NewsRangers, the Association said,  “First we want to inform you that our attention has been drawn to the parade of some ragtag impostors led by Mr.Ray Ugochukwu, whose two year tenure as MAJAN President and that of his executives elapsed on April 25th 2021 as stipulated in Section 25 of MAJAN’s Constitution as amended.

“Following the expiration of the tenure of the Raymond Ugochukwu led administration, several efforts and entreaties were made both by members and some well meaning stakeholders to ensure that things were properly done and a fresh election conducted to usher in a new executive team as stipulated by the MAJAN constitution.

“However, unfolding developments have proved otherwise. Rather than tow the path of peace, justice, equity and fair play, the Raymond Ugochukwu led exco. whose tenure has elapsed, have continued to parade themselves illegally as MAJAN executives.

“It is in the aftermath of this development that we wish to state categorically and unequivocally that the Raymond Ugochukwu led team (executive ) remains dissolved constitutionally, and any action taken or purported to have been taken by this  team constitutes an illegality and should not be regarded as representing the interest of the association.

“Aside from refusing to handover as required by the constitution, we wish to place on record that the erstwhile exco led by Mr. Raymond Ugochukwu has consistently negated  what we collectively “STAND FOR AS AN ASSOCIATION”

The many sins of  RAY UGOCHUKWU led exco includes

1.  High-handedness and Dictatorship

2.  Lack of accountability for our Association funds.

3.  Lack of transparency in the mode of operation.

4.  Executive abuse of power and use of queries for vindictiveness.

5.  High level of nepotism and favouritism.

6.  Bad leadership qualities, self centered and rigid.

7.  Refusal to convene a real general meeting

8.  Refusal to properly convene executive meetings and taking decisions without consulting other executives.

9.  Infringing on the constitutional rights of other executive members.

10. Refusal to come to the negotiating table amongst others.

“To this end, we are hereby appealing to all Stakeholders and Agencies of government to desist forthwith from doing any official business with these set of, self centered, sit tight to power and power drunk individuals on behalf of our respected Association, MAJAN.

“Having exhausted all efforts to make the Ray Ugochukwu led team to follow the path of honour, we are left with no other choice than to go by the law, as peace loving and law abiding citizens of this great nation but to constitute a new exco in line with the dictates of the constitution.

“We therefore wish at this point to draw your attention and the attention of all well meaning Stakeholders and Agencies of government to the fact that we have a newly elected and constitutionally recognized executives for MAJAN and their names and offices are as follows:-

1. Alhaji Tunde Umar

President

2. Udo Onyeka

3.  Dili Utomi

4.  Alfred A. Omenihu

Asst. Gen. Secretary

5.  Chinonye Anyatuonwu

Financial Secretary

6.  Victoria Sylvanus

Treasurer

7. McAnthony Onuoha

P. R. O

8. Anne Ejuka

“It is important to note that; at the wake  of this crisis we reached out to a lot of key stakeholders and also the Lagos State Council of the NUJ, to call these fossilized tyrants in the cloak of association’s leaders to order, but all to no avail.

“It is clear that the Lagos Council of the NUJ led by Comrade Adeleye Ajayi whom Ray Ugochukwu boasted is his friend, will not likely take any significant step to address the situation.

“Permit us to state at this point that we would not and should not be held responsible for any  breakdown of law and order having explored several means and still finding better ways of resolving this crisis peacefully to no avail. To this end a formal complaint has been made to the ‘Area  B’ Apapa Police Command.

“We also want to use this opportunity to thank Dr. B. O. Aniebonam, who brought out his money and time to intervene in making these vindictive and malignant oppressors see reason to tow the line of peace and  get them to climb down from their egoistic high horses to no avail.

“We say thank you very much to all of you well intentioned stakeholders who have  been supporting our just and noble course, in all the ways you have and are still doing, we say God bless you all, as you join us to exterminate the ugly seed of tyranny, injustice, nepotism, financial misappropriation and all the other constituents of corruption from our dear Association.”
