Lagos: Scores Hospitalised As Explosion Rocks Petrol Station In Badagry
LAGOS DECEMBER 28TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Scores of yet to be identified persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in a fire incident that occurred at Fat Noble filling station opposite Torikoh, Badagry area of Lagos State.
NAN report that the incident happened at about 1 am on Wednesday while some residents in the area were dispensing petrol in jerrycans and polythene bags.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Shakiru Amodu, while confirming the incident, said the injured victims were planning to convey the products to a neighbouring country when the explosion occurred.
“The fire incident happened when some persons were filling polythene bags with petrol to sell in the neighbouring country. Our men were able to contain the fire. Four people were injured as you can see in the reports.”
The News Agency of Nigeria also reported that those who sustained injuries were quickly rushed to the General Hospital in Badagry before the arrival of the fire service men.
“They are selling fuel which is to be smuggled out of the country. Immediately, there was an explosion.
“The fire destroyed some parts of the station before the arrival of the men of the Lagos Fire Service.
