HOS set to conduct personnel audit of civil servants in Cross River State
By Jeno Richard-Odu
All is now set for a comprehensive audit of personnel in the Cross River State Civil Service.
This was made known by the Head of Service Mrs. Geraldine Akpet-Ekanem during a meeting in her office with staff designated to carry out the exercise.
Mrs. Ekanem who maintained that the exercise which is billed to take place across the three Senatorial Districts of the State,is in line with His Excellency, the Governor’s directive on the need to clean up the State payroll, and charged the staff not to oblige any request for date correction.
She lamented a situation where some Civil Servants alter their records to prolong their stay in service noting that such acts are inimical as they do not give room for younger ones to be employed.
According to her, the week-long exercise which commences from the 7th through 11th June, 2021 will be a departure from the audit earlier carried out by the office of the State Auditor -General as it will involve a person–to-person identification.
The Head of Service admonished staff to make themselves available for the exercise on their scheduled dates with the originals of the necessary documents and warned that any staff that fails to appear for the exercise will be considered a ghost worker with his/her name deleted from the State payroll.
Meanwhile, the exercise will also afford Civil Servants the opportunity to key into the affordable housing acquisition scheme of His Excellency, the Governor, by indicating interest in the Scheme.
The interest forms will be made available during the exercise for interested Civil Servants. All are urged to key into the Scheme.
