LAGOS AUGUST 3RD (NEWSRANGERS)-Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta in Ogun state, Most Rev Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo, on Saturday assured that Holy Mother of Jesus, Virgin Mary has intervened  in the past and will continue to intervene to ensure that peace, love, unity and Godliness reign  in our world.

The Bishop said this  during the August Marian Pilgrimage 2025. The event was held Saturday, August 9, 2025, at St Mary Catholic. Church, Alaja, Ifo, in Ogun state.

Speaking on title, ‘Mary:Queen of Peace’ , the Bishop said that during  critical points and situations for individuals , groups and nations, the Holy Spirit  do intervene for peace, love, progress and harmony. This is one of the reasons Catholics in Nigeria continue to pray for Nigeria in distress, while those from other countries, do the same for their countries.

Earlier in his lecture, Rev. Fr. Anthony Famoroti,  stressed repeatedly that Catholics should always pray with the rosary through virgin Mary and  go for confessions, where the priests as representatives of Christ on earth, could listen to them and forgive their sins.

Rev Famoroti explained that since Christ came  into this world to preach the gospel, he was persecuted, died, was buried and rose for our sins, the Catholics should know for sure that with genuine confessions, the  intervention of the Holy Mother is sure here on earth and hereafter.

His words: ‘Priests are representatives of Christ on earth and once they forgive your sin, your sin has been forgiven’ Rev Fr Martin Olaka, was chairman of the planning committee, while Rev Fr Emmanuel Okeke took charge of the penitential service. This is even as the pilgrimage featured rosary recitation, blessing of sacramentals, penitential service, talk, confession and holy mass. It was observed that Rev Fr Anthony Otegbola, the parish priest of St Mary Catholic Church, Alaja, Ifo, Ogun state, the host parish did a good job as police officers, so_safe wasoperatives, SSS operatives, were on ground to ensure peace, safety of the pilgrimage. The church premises was clean with the grasses trimmed.”
