China Reacts To Trump’s Tariff Wars
LAGOS JANUARY 25TH (NEWSRANGERS)-China has responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats of imposing tariffs on goods exported to the United States.
Since taking office, the American leader has signed numerous executive orders and reiterated his intention to impose tariffs of up to 20% on many countries trading with Washington.
In an interview with Fox News on Thursday, the president acknowledged that he held this “weapon” but said he would prefer not to use it.
Following this statement, Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded: “We have repeatedly stated our position on this matter. China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial and win-win. Differences and frictions should be resolved through dialogue and consultation. Trade wars and tariff wars have no winners, do not serve the interests of any party, and are not beneficial to the world.”
Last year, the U.S. imported 270 billion dollars worth of goods from China.
