Nation’s Cup Qualifier: CAF Probes Super Eagles Ordeal In Libya

LAGOS OCTOBER 15TH (NEWSRANGERS)-After the Nigerian squad complained of being mistreated upon arrival, the Confederation of African Football, or CAF, announced that it will look into the factors that led to the Super Eagles calling off their Nations Cup qualifying match against Libya.

After spending nearly a day in an abandoned airport, the Super Eagles stated they encountered a harsh reception and returned to Nigeria on Monday.

It is yet unknown what will happen to the match that was scheduled for Tuesday.

CAF in its statement said its disciplinary board will investigate and take appropriate action.

It reads, “CAF views the disturbing and unacceptable experiences of the Nigerian National Football Team (‘’Super Eagles’’) at an airport in Libya in a very serious light.

“The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) has been in contact with the Libyan and Nigerian authorities after it had been informed that the Nigerian National Football Team (‘’Super Eagles’’) and their technical team were stranded in disturbing conditions for several hours at an airport that they were allegedly instructed to land by the Libyan authorities.

“The matter has been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for investigation and appropriate action will be taken against those who violated the CAF Statutes and Regulations.”
