Female POS Operator Remanded In Kirikiri For Transferring Employer’s N1.5m To Her Mother

LAGOS JULY 16TH (NEWSRANGERS)-A 19-year old female POS operator,  Ojuolape Adejoke, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly swindling her boss to the tune of N1.5m by diverting money from the POS machine to her mother. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Delight Business Centre located at Alhaja Idiat Toyin Oki Street, Kudeyibu Estate, Ijegun area of Lagos, where Adejoke was employed as POS operator.

The suspect was alleged to have between July, 2022 and February, 2023, to have tempered with the POS and secretly transferred money to the amount in question to a First Bank PLC account number 31354863835, which belonged to Mrs. Ojuolape Oluwaseyi Abosede and her Palm Pay account number 7030309236. During investigation, it was discovered that the accounts belonged to her mother.

The matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division; she was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct.

She reportedly denied to have do so but the account of the missing money was traced to her mother’s account and she was unable to prove how the money got missing.

The Police found her culpable and subsequently charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and stealing.

However, she pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, granted her bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.

The matter was adjourned till 29th August, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
