US Based Nigerians Get Approval To Protest Feb 25th Election Presidential Result At Capitol
LAGOS MARCH 31ST (NEWSRANGERS)-It will be a march from the White House to the US Capitol Grounds, the statement said, noting that United States of America (US) based Nigerians, have recorded another major Diplomatic breakthrough, after receiving approval to protest the country’s February 25, 2023, Presidential election result to US Capitol grounds from the White House.
The Nigerian American Coalition for Justice and Democracy (NACJD), which announced “the second historic Diplomatic breakthrough” of receiving approval to hold a protest against what it described as “the recent sham elections in Nigeria” on the grounds of the US Capitol (Congress), said that this follows the recent approval they received to protest in front of the White House.
Washington DC insiders speculate that these approvals to protest at these very strategic venues are a clear indication of the direction in which the US is leaning concerning the outcome of the election that has been denounced by many, including several local and international election monitors and that is already being challenged in court by some of the major political parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP).
The protest in Washington DC is scheduled to take place on Monday April 3, 2023, starting at 8:00am from the Lafayette Park in front of the White House, then to the US Capitol. It would end at the State Department, where a formal letter of demands will be handed on.
The detailed demands, the organisers say, will include the “names of enemies of Nigeria’s democracy” that they want punitive sanctions imposed on by the US government.
The group, according to their notice, would then regroup for a World Press Conference at the prestigious and revered National Press Club, in Washington DC at 1:00 PM.
NACJD is the largest and most influential US based Nigerian civil society organization focused on enriching dialogue and initiatives that promote free democratic spirit in Nigeria as well as that guides the shaping of US policies towards Nigeria.
