30-Year-Old Woman Arrested For The Third Time For Spending Fake Currency In Ogun Market
LAGOS FEBRUARY 19TH (NEWSRANGERS)-A 30-years-old woman, Bola Agbedimu has once again been arrested for allegedly spending fake N1000 notes at Kila market in the Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to the police, the arrest was the third time as she had been arrested two times for the same offence.
The suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Odeda Divisional Headquarters by the chairperson of Egbalawa Crops/fruits Association, that the suspect was caught spending a fake 1000 currency notes in the market.
According to Ogu State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, “upon the report, DPO Odeda division, CSP Femi Olabode, detailed detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested. On searching her bag, a sum of N24,000 fake currency notes was discovered.
He said on interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a habitual counterfeit naira note dealer. She confessed further that her mode of operation is mixing the counterfeit notes with genuine ones and using them to purchase goods.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that she has been arrested on many occasions at different markets within Abeokuta”.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
