25 Mourners Killed, Scores Injured In Auto-Crash

LAGOS AUGUST 10TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Twenty-five people have died and others were hurt, when their bus overturned in Kenya while traveling after a funeral, officials confirmed.

The fatal incident occurred on Friday, Aug. 8, in Kisumu, the Associated Press reported.

“The vehicle lost control, veered, rolled onto the other side of the road,” said local traffic enforcement officer Peter Maina, according to Al Jazeera.

Maina said the bus driver was heading toward a roundabout at a high speed before the vehicle entered a ditch, both outlets reported.

The initial fatalities included 10 men, 10 women and a 10-year-old girl, Maina said, per Al Jazeera.

Four others also died after being transported to a hospital, said Fredrick Ouma Oluga, a Kenyan medical services official, according to the Associated Press.

Among the injured passengers is a baby who is less than a year old, NTV Kenya reports, and officials are investigating the cause of the incident.
