Motorists Trapped On Oshodi-Apapa Expressway As Traffic Managers Abandoned Their Jobs

LAGOS DECEMBER 4TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The ever-busy Oshodi -Apapa expressway has been on lock-down  for the past two days. Security agents and traffic managers expected to clear the gridlock are nowhere to be seen as chaos reign.

From Berger bridge, Otto Wharf to Mile II Oke along the Expressway are blocked by trailers and tankers who are trying to maneuver from the gridlock. Consequently, motorists and commuters have remained stranded with tales of harrowing experience.

”We have been here for hours.  We are helpless because there is nobody controlling the traffic.  It appears the security agents and traffic controllers have abandoned their job,” an angry motorist lamented  yesterday.

The Expressway has been experiencing traffic snarl for years, but the situation has taken a turn for the worse since Tuesday.

Security personnel are indifferent as they hide under shades and trees, watching motorists groan in pain.

Funny enough, at the other side of the expressway, security agents made up of police, LASTMA officials, Task Force and hoodlums blocked blocked the road  at Jakande Estate of FESTAC side. They are seen collecting money from trailer and tanker drivers   before allowing them to pass. This has resulted in total blockage of the other lane of the Expressway.

The traffic lawlessness in Lagos state mostly along the Oshodi- Apapa Expressway has  become something else and it seems the Lagos State government is helpless. Commercial bus drivers are plying one along the Expressway with recklessness.

Hoodlums have taking laws into their hands.

NewsRangers gathered that hoodlums went wild few days ago destroying vehicles glasses trapped on the gridlock from Mile II to Second Rainbow bus-stop along the Expressway because a danfo driver had a brush with military personnel.
