LAGOS JULY 20TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Determined to productively engage youths in the oil-rich Niger Delta region, the Federal Government has set up a presidential initiative that will begin the process of revamping some moribund industries in the nine states that make up the Niger Delta region.
The industries which hitherto created thousands of job went moribund, perhaps, as a result of unfavourable government economic policies, high cost of operation or bad management of the industries.
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani, who visited some of the moribund industries in Akure, Ondo State, said the Federal Government has engaged competent hands to handle the exercise, under the close watch of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
He told Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu that the presidential team was made up of competent and experienced hands, who are focused and committed to the task of revamping agricultural and manufacturing industries in the region.
In his remarks, Governor Akeredolu expressed the readiness of the state to support the presidential initiative, which he said will revive the economy of the Niger Delta states, creating jobs and facilitating peaceful co-existence.
He urged the Federal Government to expand the scope of the intervention to cover several areas of mineral resources that are abundant in the state.
