Oscar Pistorius Sustains Injury In Prison Brawl

LAGOS DECEMBER 12TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Disgraced “Blade Runner” Oscar Pistorius was injured in a prison brawl over the use of a public phone, officials said Tuesday.
The convicted killer and former Paralympian was hurt in the tiff last week at Attridgevill Correctional Center in South Africa, where he is serving 13 years for the murder of his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
He suffered a minor injury that left him with a bruise found during a medical checkup, Singabakho Nxumalo of the Department of Correctional Services told the Associated Press.
“The injury is minor but we at the department take incidents like this seriously and want to prevent any altercations,” Nxumalo said, adding the incident is being investigated.
The fight took place 10 days after South African prosecutors more than doubled Pistorius’ six-year prison sentence.
Pistorius shot the 29-year-old model and budding reality TV star through a bathroom door inside his home on Valentine’s Day in 2013, claiming he thought she was an intruder.
The prosecution charged that Pistorius intentionally blasted Steenkamp four times after the couple had an argument.
He initially was convicted of manslaughter in 2014, but that conviction was overturned and replaced with a murder conviction.
Pistorius won worldwide acclaim as a double-amputee runner who received a gold medal at the Paralympics and competed in the Olympics using carbon-fiber running blades.
